Nita Angeletti - USA - Bio

Nita Angeletti came to New York upon her acceptance at The Juilliard School, and received a B.F.A. under the direction of the late John Houseman. Her performance career includes dance as well as acting, and having performed for many years, her work reflects a strong theatricality. These intense theatrical roots have provided a natural evolution into the world of design decoration. Her masks, dolls, figures and design work extend into many mediums of expression, each contingent upon the other as she continues to evolve and refine her work. All of her work exhibits a sophisticated orchestration of color, movement and style, and a passion for textiles. Her arrangement and layering of unusual combinations of fabric and paint distinguish her work from that of her contemporaries. Nita's has an extensive body of work. She was contracted by Spaeth Design as costume designer and builder for the award winning Macy`s 2006 and 2007 holiday windows seen by record breaking crowds. For the 2005 Production "A Christmas Carol" at Ford`s Theatre in Washington, DC, Nita was contracted by Costume Designer, Fabio Toblini to design and build a 9ft, colossal collage cape for the "Spirit of Christmas Present." Nita's textiles have captured the imagination of both fashion and interior designers. All are hand painted in different harmonies. Each piece is unique and a work of art. Theatrical Dolls: "When creating a doll I usually dye my fabrics first, I love the transparency and magical qualities of dye. Then I use the fabric as though it were paint, layering it as one would layer pigment, and shadowing or highlighting with different colored textiles. Each doll is unique." They are available as free-standing, suspended, or in frames. Nita is currently working on silk veils, shrugs, wraps and scarves. All hand painted in different harmonies and each piece is different and a one-of-a-kind work of art.
